About the Artist

Nasim Graphene

Nasim Graphene is a contemporary mixed-media painter creating original abstract art that explores the landscape of human resilience.

Her work is a masterful fusion of tactile layers and profound emotional resonance, inviting viewers into a world of vibrant color and intricate storytelling.

Each piece begins in what she calls "chaos on my studio floor, layers of acrylic, scraps of collage, bits of my sketchbook torn by impulse, not plan." This process, living in the tension between control and release, is central to her unique artistic voice.

EXPLORE THE ART

Art Forged in Resistance

Graphene’s art gives physical form to invisible struggles. Her journey as an artist is one of profound transformation, from navigating the cultural challenges of her home in Iran to embracing a life-altering diagnosis of fibromyalgia and ADHD. Painting became her voice when she felt silenced.

This personal history is woven directly into the canvas. "The intricate layering," she explains, "relates to the complexity of managing a chronic condition. Different layers can speak to different kinds of pain, nerve, joint, or fibromyalgia." This theme of resistance also appears in her use of color.

"Back in Iran, the regime was strict about women's choice of clothes. I was not allowed to wear cheerful and vibrant colors like red, which I love the most. They wanted to control us by creating fear." Today, her bold use of red and other vibrant hues is a defiant act of reclamation and joy.

Where Feeling Becomes Form

Nasim Graphene’s mission is to create art that acts as a bridge, connecting her internal world to the shared human experience of struggle and strength. Her work is for anyone who has faced a hidden battle, offering a reminder that resilience does not erase softness.

Each painting is an artifact of this process, carrying what she describes as "ADHD energy, restless lines, and pain that found shape through color." It is art that doesn't ask for permission. In inviting you to own a piece, she is inviting you to see what it feels like when deep feeling becomes a powerful, tangible form.
